Overview
Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants of Westchester is a private group practice of internationally recognized mental health professionals who specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and provide the highest quality of clinical, consultation, and coaching services. Through the use of evidence-based approaches, we provide the necessary structure and tools to assist individuals with issues ranging from life stresses and problems to the full range of mild to severe psychological disorders. We serve adults, adolescents, children, couples and families, as well as provide consultation to the community and other professionals.

Our Staff

Nancy Peterson, PhD

Dr. Nancy Peterson is a clinical psychologist who works part-time at CBCW treating children, adolescents and adults. She specializes in helping people to cope more effectively with a variety of stressors, including challenging life transitions, being diagnosed with a medical illness, divorce and bereavement. Dr. Peterson has extensive experience and expertise in the treatment of anxiety and depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, parenting and relationship concerns. She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1985 and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University in 1994. Prior to joining CBCW, Dr. Peterson was the director of a mental health treatment program for children, adolescents and adults with serious medical problems at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Since 1989, she has conducted research on helping youth and families to understand and adjust to challenging life circumstances and has presented her research findings in professional journals and popular media. She provides training and consultation to mental health and medical professionals in the US and abroad. Dr. Peterson is an active member of the Association for the Advancement of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the American Psychological Association. To contact Dr. Peterson, please click here.
